MID:Israeli assault on Gaza enters 2nd week with no end in sight

Israeli warplanes are continuing to pound Gaza as the assault on Hamas enters its second week .. with the Islamist group warns Israel of heavy losses if ground troops are sent in.
Hamas's Syrian-based chief KHALED MESHAAL says if Israel launches a ground offensive .. they will face heavy resistance.
The United States has given Israel free rein on whether to invade the overcrowded enclave .. insisting the key to a ceasefire is Israel's demand for Hamas to permanently halt rocket fire.
President GEORGE W BUSH says all parties msut press Hamas to stop firing on Israel to facilitate a lasting ceasefire.
